Après des études au Conservatoire d"™Annecy (avec Jacques Martin), a obtenu une Médaille d"™Or de Guitare au CNR de Grenoble (classe de Gérard Gavarone).
Parallèlement, elle suit dans cette même ville un cursus musical universiraire (harmonie, histoire et analyse, direction de choeur...), et elle fréquente des stages de guitaristes comme René Bartoli, Francis Kleynjans, Bernard Piris...
Elle a donné de nombreux concerts en diverses formations de chambre ou en soliste, et participé í des créations dans le cadre de festivals (sous la direction de Roland Dyens, Leo Brouwer, Olivier Bensa, Francis Kleynjans), ainsi qu"™í des enregistrements (CD du Concerto en Si de Roland Dyens, et en soliste CD Couleur Nuit, consacré aux compositions de Bernard Piris).
Titulaire du Diplôme d"™État d"™enseignement, elle enseigne aux Écoles de Musique de Bollène et Lapalud dans le Vaucluse.
En duo avec Bernard Piris, ces deux concertistes se sont produits en France, République Tchèque, Allemagne, Israí«l, Canada... avec un succès salué par la critique et la presse internationale.
Following the CD Couleur Nuit, this is the second recording by Brigitte Repiton dedicated to the works of Bernard Piris, whose pieces are published by Lemoine, Combre,Transatlantique in France, and by Productions d'OZ in Canada.
Bernard PIRIS studied music at the Marseille conservatory where he was awarded, amongst other prizes, the gold medal in guitar in a unanimous vote. Regularly invited to the most prestigious musical establishments to give master class or to be a member of a jury, he has given concerts throughout France and abroad, and has performed on radio broadcasts for France Musique, RTBF Brussels, M6, France 3. A number of contemporary compositions have been dedicated to him.
His book Fernando Sor, Une guitare í l'orée du Romantisme published by Aubier/ Flammarion, is considered as an important reference book in the guitar world. He has recorded a disc entitled Récital de Guitare, dedicated to 20th century and Latin American music (Villa-Lobos, Ayala, Smith-Brindle, Poulenc). He is the professor of guitar at the Tricastin conservatory, in the Drome region of France.
Their links with artists such as Sergio Assad, Eduardo Isaac, Leo Brouwer (whose Concerto de Tricastin is dedicated to them) have been defining influences on their career paths and musical tastes.
Their duo concerts have taken them to France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Israel, Quebec, Morocco, Tunisia... as well as broadcasts for Radio-Canada, Radio France, met with critical acclaim from music critics and the international press.
Their repertoire extends from Haendel, Scarlatti to the music of our times, characterised by Piazzolla, M.D. Pujol, Gismonti, Assad, Bellinati...

About the composer:
Bernard Piris digs into his french roots with easiness and respect. His language transcends pop and folk music with a personal promenade through inner modulations refreshing the tonal language of his themes. Piris does not pretend to compete with Satie or Kosma, Jobim, or Barrios. He is there touching our sensibility with the "chanson française"; with highly respected "tradition" and mastered guitar writing.
Piris' language is coherent in structure; he is not the composer who mixes ideas and more ideas without development or without "explaining" them (that's something I love to do when composing). Clear language needs clearer form (also!). We have it here!

The writing of Bernard Piris has everything one can dream in a piece of music: consistent architecture, beautiful melodies, interesting harmonies and strong rhythms. He has a great ability to develop a simple motif or a simple phrase into a myriad of different and fresh versions. The changes occur in all musical plans: the harmonic, the melodic, and the rhythmical.
One listen to his music with a renewed interest in each episode he proposes and is frequently surprised by the subtle and smooth changes of the first and original idea.
These pieces are a great addition to the repertoire of guitar ensemble music, and I just wish that Bernard will keep writing more and more, bringing beauty to a world that really needs it so much.
