Luke Trimble & Matthew Keating - Guitar & Cello
Luke Trimble is an award-winning classical guitarist based in Kailua, Hawaii. Under the direction of renowned composer and guitarist Bryan Johanson, Luke graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music from Portland State University. He has performed in masterclasses for many of world’s finest guitarists, including Michael Partington, Thibault Cauvin, and Ana Vidovic. Widely recognized for his versatility as a performer and educator, Luke’s diverse work has taken him across the globe as a soloist, with various ensembles, and as a dedicated teacher.
An advocate of new music, Luke continues to promote solo and chamber works for guitar by West Coast composers, i.e. Washington, Oregon and California. This is highlighted among the frequent performance of works by Lou Harrison, Terry Riley, Andrew York, Ralph Towner and many others.
In 2013, Luke released Lines, Color & Form: Music of Bryan Johanson. A collaboration with cellist Matthew Keating. This debut recording features an exciting collection of music for guitar and cello by the American composer Bryan Johanson.
Luke has been featured on Hawaii Public Radio. He has performed with members of the Honolulu Symphony, the Air Force Band of the Pacific, the UH Contemporary Music Ensemble, and numerous chamber players. Recent concerts in China include the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and Shanghai Concert Hall.
