Andreas Oeste
Andreas Oeste is an active performer and chamber musician, originally from the small town of Conway, Arkansas. He began his musical studies on the clarinet and cello, but was allowed to switch to the oboe when his band director noted that he was “nerdy enough.”
Andreas has performed with orchestras across the United States and is currently Principal Oboe of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra (PA). He was formerly Principal Oboe of the Battle Creek Symphony (MI) and was English Horn and Second Oboe of the Lexington Philharmonic (KY).
As a soloist, Andreas holds prizes from several prominent international competitions. Most notably he was awarded Third Prize at the International Barbirolli Oboe Competition (2017), received Honorable Mention at the International Double Reed Society’s Hugo-Fox Gillet Competition (2017), and was the only American oboist invited to compete in the Muri International Oboe Competition (2016). Andreas is regularly featured as an orchestral soloist, performing with ensembles such as the Ann Arbor Camerata (MI), TACTUS (OK), Conway Symphony (AR), and Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra (PA).
Andreas graduated with his Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan, studying with Nancy Ambrose King. He received Master of Music degrees in both oboe performance and chamber music from the University of Michigan and earned Bachelor of Music degrees in oboe performance and oboe composition from the University of Central Arkansas.
Anthony Costa - Clarinet
Anthony J. Costa is Associate Professor of Clarinet at Penn State and a member of the Prestige Clarinet Quartet and Pennsylvania Quintet. He serves as principal clarinet with the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra and Penn's Woods Music Festival Orchestra and is a Buffet-Crampon Artist.
Daryl Durran - Bassoon
Daryl Durran is Professor Emeritus, retiring after 39 years as Penn State’s bassoon teacher. He is a founding member of The Pennsylvania Quintet and the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra and has been principal bassoonist with the Penn’s Woods Music Festival. Prior to his appointment at Penn State, he performed with the Milwaukee Symphony and the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestras. His arrangements for woodwind instruments are published by TrevCo Music.
Katelyn Estep - Oboe
Katelyn Estep is an active performer and chamber musician from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Currently, she is pursuing her master’s degree at Pennsylvania State University where she studies with Andreas Oeste. Previously, Katelyn received a Bachelor of Music from the University of Maryland, studying with Mark Hill.
Margaret P. Fay - Bassoon
Margaret P. Fay holds a Doctor of Music in Bassoon Performance from Indiana University. She has performed with the Vancouver Symphony, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, London Symphonia, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, and Opera Ontario. She joined the faculty at Penn State University in fall 2022 and previously held appointments at Stephen F. Austin State University, Western University in London, Ontario, and the University of Guelph.
Celeste Johnson - English Horn
Celeste Johnson is Professor of Oboe at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory. Equally at home as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and pedagogue, Celeste balances an active performing career with a passion for teaching. She holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Illinois.
Devin Cobleigh-Morrison - Horn
Devin Cobleigh-Morrison is the Assistant Professor of Horn at the University of Louisville School of Music, artist faculty at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, fourth horn of the Lancaster Festival Orchestra (2023), and the hornist for The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s faculty wind quintet, Wingra, from 2019-2022. His primary teachers include Elizabeth Freimuth, Tom Sherwood, Randy Gardner, Daniel Grabois, Corbin Wagner, Dale Clevenger, and Alice Render (Clevenger).
Rebecca Reeder - Clarinet
Rebecca Reeder is a clarinetist and elementary music teacher located in Central Pennsylvania. She has previously performed with the Altoona Symphony and the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra. Becca holds a degree in Music Education from Susquehanna University and a master’s degree in Clarinet Performance from Penn State University.
Naomi Seidman - Flute
Naomi Seidman is recognized as an accomplished solo performer, chamber musician, and educator. A faculty member at Pennsylvania State University’s School of Music, she has participated in numerous festivals and has presented master classes around the country, appeared as a soloist with orchestras; and is actively involved with the National Flute Association. She is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara, the University of Texas at Austin, and Yale.
Eddie Sundra - Bass Clarinet
Eddie Sundra currently holds the position of 2nd and Associate Principal Clarinet with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra and has also held positions with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and Lima Symphony in Ohio, and has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, and other orchestras and festivals in the US and Europe. Eddie received degrees in performance and chamber music from Pennsylvania State University (B.M.) and the University of Michigan (M.M.).
Laurel Wellman - Oboe and Oboe d'amore
Laurel Wellman is an oboist and English hornist based in Pennsylvania. She performs regularly with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra and has performed with orchestras and festivals across the United States and Europe. She received her master’s degree in oboe performance from the Yale School of Music and bachelor’s degrees from the University of Michigan. She is currently pursuing a PhD in weed ecology at Penn State University.
